Tuoi Tre Newspaper will hold a festive day with lots of playful and meaningful activities starting from 8:30 am on Saturday at Phan Dinh Phung Sports Center in District 3.
The event is held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and the 35th anniversary of the newspaper.
The morning session of the Ho Chi Minh City-based newspaper’s birthday celebration will also include the award ceremony for readers with the oldest publications of the newspaper and top five readers’ favorite articles/articles series since 2005.
There will also be exchanges with journalists winning several journalism awards and featuring characters of the Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Huong Giang - the most beautiful Miss Asia 2009, the football stars of Vietnam national team, and the authors of the Tuoi Tre Books.
Also during the event, readers can enjoy the largest-ever exhibition of Tuoi Tre Newspaper in the last 35 years, themed “The past and the present” with its publications and products such as Tuoi Tre Daily, Tuoi Tre Weekly, Tuoi Tre Weird and Funny, Tuoi Tre Online, Tuoi Tre Television, TuoiTreNews, Tuoi Tre Mobile, Tuoi Tre Books and Ao Trang supplement.
The first issue of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, which circulated on September 2, 1975, will also be on display there.
The afternoon session, starting from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, will include cultural and art performances.
The evening session will really rock the participants with rock shows performed by veteran band of The Peanuts and greenhorn rockers of The Black Rose.
There most exciting part of the event, accompanied with exchanges, art performances and exhibitions, will be a series of games and mini-contests relating to regular working activities of Tuoi Tre Newspaper staff which will be opened to the public all day long.
Booths collecting recyclable garbage for gifts, sketching portraits for participants performed by Tuoi Tre’s caricaturists, selling Tuoi Tre’s publications and receiving donations for Tuoi Tre’s charity programs will be operational during the festive day.
The Gala Night “Burn up your hearts” will begin at 8:30 pm with the participation of famous singers, bands and dance groups including The Sun, Nam Dong Ke, Nhat Nguyet, FM, Green Tone, Nam Khanh, Ho Quynh Huong, Kasim Hoang Vu, Luu Huong Giang, Ho Bich Ngoc, Dang Khoi, and Ha Tram. They will be accompanied by featuring characters showcased on by Tuoi Tre Newspaper throughout decades like victims of Agent Orange and soldiers of the offshore DK1 watchtower.

Tuoi Tre Books launches 6 new books to celebrate 35th birthday
Tuoi Tre Book has launched the sale of six new books to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the newspaper. They include Nhung Ngoi But Lua (The pens of fire) - the collection of all time great commentary and opinion articles, Ho Da Song Nhu The (It is the way they choose to live) - photo essay book focusing on the lives of people with disabilities by photographic artist Nguyen A, Chung Mot Con Duong (We share the road) - collection of text, poems and portraits of writers and artists who have written for Tuoi Tre, Tao Lao Xit Bop - collection of satirical stories by writer Le Van Nghia, Doi 2 (Life No 2) - collection of short stories by writer Nguyen Dong Thuc), Mot Thoi (There is a time) – collection of sports writing of Hoai Le. |
