Ho Chi Minh City remains sweltering, with residents noting profuse sweating from early morning, despite forecasts that the metropolis’ peak heat has been subsiding in recent days.

The southern hydro-meteorological station reports that on Monday, the hot low-pressure area in the west of Vietnam, connected to the low-pressure trough across the north, is moving southward.

Meanwhile, at high altitudes, a subtropical high-pressure system, centered over the south-central region, is notably active.

These two weather patterns dominate the southern region of Vietnam.

In the southeastern provinces and cities, pervasive intense heat continues, with certain areas encountering particularly high temperatures.

Mercury in this region commonly ranges from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 39 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, the Mekong Delta provinces and cities are also experiencing widespread hot weather, with pockets of intense heat and minimal rainfall.

Temperatures range from 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the sun shines intensely all day under a windless sky with few clouds.

Combined with high air humidity, these conditions create uncomfortable weather conditions, causing people to sweat profusely even with limited outdoor exposure.

Meteorological analysis indicates prevailing southwesterly winds in the southern region, bringing moisture from the sea and contributing to high humidity levels, which range from 75 percent to 94 percent between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Additionally, continuous solar radiation heats street surfaces and buildings, further intensifying the heat sensation even when the sun sets.

As of 8:00 am on Monday, humidity reached 75 percent, with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

The hottest areas forecast in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday are concentrated in the city center, the north and northeast districts of Cu Chi and Hoc Mon, as well as Thu Duc City, where temperatures may reach 38 degrees Celsius.

In the southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, including Can Gio District and parts of Nha Be District, temperatures are slightly lower, around 37 degrees Celsius.

The southern hydro-meteorological station forecasts that the widespread, intense heat in the southern region will persist for the next two to three days.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected in some areas during the evening and at night, with rainfall likely to intensify in both coverage and volume.

Starting from May 2, moderate to heavy rain is anticipated in certain areas, accompanied by the possibility of whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds during thunderstorms.
