-- A wide range of products in the paper and packaging industries are being showcased at the Vietnam International Paper and Packaging Exhibition, held between Wednesday and Friday this week in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam.

-- Authorities in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam are investigating the cause of a wildfire which ravaged an acacia protection forest, a planted acacia forest, and sugarcane fields spanning a combined area of some 90 hectares from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon, said a local official on Wednesday.

-- Dozens of metric tons of foul-smelling dead fish and garbage have blanketed a Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal section in Ho Chi Minh City since Tuesday following the first downpours of this rainy season. The situation is expected to worsen in the next few days.

-- The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is poised to become one of Vietnam’s municipalities by 2050 as well as a high-quality tourism hub of the country and Southeast Asia in the years to come, the provincial administration said on Wednesday.

-- IDP Education, an organization that administers IELTS tests in Vietnam, was found to have granted more than 56,000 unauthorized IELTS certificates throughout 2022, according to the outcome of an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Education and Training.

-- Widespread recent power outages in Mexico were caused by unseasonably hot weather, the country's president said on Wednesday, assuring consumers that the national grid has sufficient generating capacity going forward, Reuters reported.
