Apple CEO Tim Cook on Tuesday visited Hanoi Star School in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi and joined a science class using only iPads there.

During the class, which was about environmental protection, students were divided into groups and used iPads to classify items into three groups: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Cook completed the task with the students, Huynh Thi Ngoc Thi, the teacher of the class, told news site VnExpress.

He was sociable, friendly, and often smiled. Students were excited about the lesson, Thi added.

Cook wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that “Hanoi Star School is a shining example how educators are incorporating iPad into the classroom in meaningful ways.”

The Apple CEO also thanked the school’s principal, educators, students, and Vietnamese content creator Giang Oi for letting him join the "environment lesson where [they] learned ways [everyone] can reduce, reuse and recycle."

Le Thanh Tam, vice-principal of the school, said that the Apple delegation’s visit to the school was part of the cooperation activities conducted by Apple Education and Hanoi Star School, as the school is employing the ‘Apple iPad for learning' method, Lao Dong (Labor) newspaper reported.

The two sides had prepared for the visit for a month but the school did not know Cook would come until 20 minutes before his arrival.

Hanoi Star School is the first school in Vietnam to use iPads as an official teaching tool, according to VnExpress.

Apple CEO Tim Cook arrived in Hanoi on Monday morning for a two-day business trip.

He spent Monday taking a stroll by the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake, trying egg coffee, and meeting Vietnamese influencers, including famed singer My Linh and her daughter My Anh, tech reviewer Ngo Duc Duy, also known as Duy Tham, and film director Phuong Vu, as well as app developers.

On Tuesday, he met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Cook joined Apple in March 1998 and was named Apple CEO in 2011.

Apple entered the Vietnamese market around 10 years ago, offering jobs to more than 200,000 people in the country.

Under Cook's helm, the tech giant has spent nearly VND400 trillion (US$15.8 billion) in the Vietnamese market through its supply chain partners since 2019.

At present, 25 Apple suppliers are doing business in Vietnam, such as Foxconn, Luxshare, and Goertek, in addition to 27 manufacturing facilities located in 13 Vietnamese provinces.
